On June 7, 2024, the United Nations proclaimed 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ). According to the proclamation, this year-long, worldwide initiative will “be observed through activities at all levels aimed at increasing public awareness of the importance of quantum science and applications.”
As part of the IYQ, events dedicated to quantum science will be organized to raise awareness and inspire young scientists. The IYQ Steering Committee is planning a series of global initiatives, including educational programs, workshops and events to popularise science.
Quantum science has the potential to address important global challenges such as climate change, energy efficiency, and food security. The celebration of 2025 invites everyone – young and old – to explore how quantum science impacts our daily lives, technological innovation, and society at large.
