Estonia at the EQTC2024 conference in Lisbon

Estonian researchers and experts participated in the European Quantum Technologies Conference (EQTC2024) in Lisbon on 18-20 November 2024. The event brought together Europe’s leading researchers, companies and policy makers to discuss the future of quantum technologies.

The conference included more than 40 scientific presentations, practical workshops and technology demonstrations. All areas of quantum technologies were covered, and lively debates were held around education, workforce and other aspects affecting technological progress.

One of the most prominent projects presented was a real-time presentation of a quantum project and the use of quantum gravimetry in archaeology to identify hidden structures in historical sites in Lisbon.

Special sessions were also organized on the industrial application of quantum technologies, funding opportunities, and standardization. For example, a Quantum Finance Lab, led by the European Investment Bank, provided practical guidance on financing quantum ventures and developing collaborations.

EQTC2024 also marked the start of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology 2025, highlighting the impact of quantum technologies on society, industry and science. Organized by the Quantum Flagship, the Portuguese Quantum Institute and the European Commission, the conference provided an inspiring environment for participants to shape Europe’s quantum future.
