Technologies based on quantum phenomena have the potential to transform our understanding of the world and technology more profoundly than anything else in recent decades, writes Nataly Dubbelman, Metrosert\u2019s Quantum Technology Coordinator, in an opinion piece published in the Delfi Forte science portal on April 9.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Phenomena of quantum mechanics, such as superposition and entanglement, have formed the foundation for the development of new technologies\u2014including quantum computers, quantum communication, and quantum metrology, the author explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She highlights that quantum computers are capable of solving complex problems that are beyond the reach of classical computers\u2014such as modeling chemical reactions or predicting weather patterns. Although the technology is still in its early stages, she sees its potential to revolutionize fields like artificial intelligence and machine learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nataly also discusses quantum technologies, which offer unprecedented security in data transmission, making unauthorized interception physically impossible. According to her, quantum metrology enables ultra-precise measurements that could enhance both scientific research and everyday technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Estonia must actively participate in the development of quantum technologies to remain at the forefront of international innovation. To this end, Metrosert is coordinating local scientists and companies to explore new opportunities for applying quantum technologies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
