Estonia\u2019s national metrology authority and applied research center, Metrosert, will participate in sTARTUp Day<\/a> in Tartu on January 30\u201331, hosting a seminar on quantum technology.<\/strong> This seminar will open Estonia\u2019s lineup of events marking the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday, January 30<\/strong>, at 1 PM<\/strong>, a quantum technology seminar titled \u201cQuantum Technology for Real-World Companies and Future Unicorns\u201d <\/a><\/strong>will take place at sTARTUp Day. As the title suggests, the seminar will explore the current state of quantum computing and its prospects, highlighting various viewpoints. For instance, IBM\u2019s quantum computing platform has seen a significant increase in users, while the Finnish startup IQM has shown impressive growth in quantum computer sales. Nevertheless, some remain more skeptical\u2014Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, for example, believes that practical quantum computing applications may still be decades away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two experts in the field will speak at the seminar: Johannes Heinsoo (IQM)<\/strong>, a quantum engineer with 10 years of experience, and Teppo Seesto (IBM Finland)<\/strong>, who serves as a quantum ambassador and has over 37 years of IT industry experience. The discussion will be moderated by Kalev Kaarna<\/strong>, Metrosert\u2019s head of R&D sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, January 31<\/strong>, at 12 PM<\/strong>, Metrosert will take part in another key panel discussion, titled \u201cThe Rocky Road to Product-Market Fit: Lessons from the Front Lines of B2B Sales.\u201d This 50-minute discussion will focus on the challenges of achieving product-market fit in B2B sales. Seasoned industry entrepreneurs and founders will share real stories about pivots, tough lessons, and breakthroughs. The aim is to delve into the strategies that have helped them navigate the challenging path to success, from building customer trust to adapting to obstacles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elor Pruvli<\/strong> of ScaleMode.io and Martin Kristerson<\/strong> of FleetFox will join the B2B sales panel, moderated by Kalev Kaarna<\/strong> from Metrosert. The panel will offer valuable insights for those still seeking their niche as well as for those who have already found product-market fit and are looking to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

sTARTUp Day 2025<\/strong> will be held on January 29\u201331 in Tartu, drawing over 3,500 people involved in, or interested in, the startup scene. This year\u2019s business festival will focus on supporting early-stage startups, offering practical skills, founder stories, and discussions on topics such as marketing, mental health, the defense industry, and deep tech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Metrosert<\/strong> is Estonia\u2019s national metrology authority and an applied research center dedicated to the advancement and application of measurement science. The organization provides calibration and measurement services, conducts research and development, and actively participates in international collaboration. Metrosert\u2019s goal is to ensure measurement accuracy and reliability in Estonia while driving innovation in the field of metrology. In 2024, Metrosert opened an applied research center that supports Estonian companies in developing knowledge-intensive products and services, focusing on biorafination, drone technologies, autonomous vehicles, hydrogen technologies, and health data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
